Sagari Chhabra is a poet, playwright, film-maker and social activist. She has written and directed fifteen films, winning five awards. Her films include; 'ASLI AZAADI' (TRUE FREEDOM) on India's women freedom fighters; 'TATVA' (ESSENCE) awarded a Rajat Kamal (National Award) and selected in  the Indian Panorama; 'NOW, I WILL SPEAK' on violence against women, awarded by the International Associaton of Women In Radio and Television and two NIFA awards of excellence; 'GLOBAL WARMING' awarded the World Food Day award by the F.A.O of the United Nations among many others.
Her play 'THE GIFT' on the nuclear issue was published by the Sahitya Akademi's 'Indian Literature' (September-October 2011). Her poetry includes, 'The Professional Woman's Dreams' and 'We Speak In Changing Voices' an anthology of Indian women poets, Sahitya Akademi. Her forthcoming books include 'THE TALKING TREE' (Natraj press) and 'In Search of Freedom' ( Harper Collins).
She has been involved with human and democratic rights issues for several years.
